今日は、「勉強方法：書く力」で紹介したGrammarlyの無料版を使って、エッセイを書いてみました！

【お題】英語を始めたきっかけ

Hello, I’m Star. Today, I’d like to talk about why I started to study English.
When I was a junior high school student, I went to Hawaii for my elder sister’s wedding ceremony. It was a beautiful and perfect day for their wedding. She put pretty wedding dress. It was so bright. I played the piano at the party. Their wedding cake was so sweet. The cake was so different from the Japanese one.

After the ceremony, we went to the hotel. My family went out somewhere by themselves. I was alone, but I didn’t care much about it. There was an ABC Mart near the hotel, so I decided to go there. I opened the room’s door and was about to turn off the key. Then, a young girl who looked much younger than me said “Hello” to me with a smile. I was so surprised and unable to say anything. She was black and had pretty curly hair and was full of confidence. The girl looked like a star. At that time, I didn’t have the idea of greeting strangers, and I couldn’t speak English. So, I had to ignore her. But soon I regretted my act. It was so regretful that I still remember the girl. If I can meet her again, I want to apologize to her. And then I want to grab a drink.
Being unable to communicate with someone because of language is stressful. Especially, if he or she wants to communicate with us. That day, I got trauma, but this experience drove me to study English. Thanks to her, now I can speak English, as a second language, though. I even went to the United States and lived there for one year. I got many friends there. I appreciate that she talked to me that day.

Today, I talked about my story, the reason, why I started to study English. I went to Hawaii for my sister’s wedding ceremony. I met the black girl. She said “Hello” to me but I couldn’t say anything. I was disappointed in myself. However, this experience gave me a chance to learn a new language. Thank you.
